What is a Tester?
A tester is a version of a product that comes without the fancy, retail packaging. Tester fragrances come in the same bottle as the retail version and include the same amount and quality of fragrance. The testers you see on our website are direct from the manufacturer and have never been used. If you'd like to save money on a fragrance for yourself, consider purchasing the tester version of the brand you're interested in. Please be aware that not all brands have testers available.
What to Expect
In most cases, a tester fragrance will come in a plain white box. However, some designers will reduce manufacturing and shipping costs by selling their tester products unboxed and sometimes without caps. So, there are 4 ways that a tester is packaged and sold:

3. Unboxed with a cap
4. Unboxed without a cap

Background
When a designer manufactures a fragrance, they usually ship that fragrance in one of two ways: as a retail good or as a tester. The retail version is the one you're probably most familiar with - fancy packaging sealed in cellophane. The tester version usually ends up on department store counters, so it doesn't require any special packaging. However, because there is a far greater demand to buy the product, rather than just test it, the tester versions are distributed throughout various markets for resale to normal consumers. From a business standpoint, it makes sense why the sale of fragrance testers is so prevalant in today's beauty and fashion marketplace - the reduction in overhead expense related to production and shipping costs make it an attractive option for many fragrance designers looking to maximize revenue through various consumer channels and secondary markets.

Do you ship internationally?
No. Big Discount Fragrances does not currently offer international shipping for several reasons. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
What is EDP, EDT and EDC?
The difference between these three types of fragrances can be easily explained as follows:
1. EDP (Eau de Parfum) - besides a true "perfume", this type of fragrance has the most concentration of fragrance oils. A good quality EDP can last up to 8 full hours or more with a minimal application. The less you have to apply, the better value you get from your purchase.
2. EDT (Eau de Toilette) - this fragrance type has a smaller concentration of fragrance oils and only lasts about 4-6 full hours. Most men's fragrances are made using this type of fragrance production, although some women's fragrances will be sold in both an EDT and an EDP version.
3. EDC (Eau de Cologne) - this fragrance type has the least amount of fragrance oils and is usually considered to be the same as an Aftershave. This type of fragrance requires a heavier application to provide desired results.
Remember that regardless of what strength perfume or cologne you purchase, the key to maximizing a scent's effectiveness is to layer it with as many related products as possible. If you can, purchase a gift set that includes the fragrance, a shower gel and a body lotion. When all three products are used together, the scent lasts much longer than if just used the fragrance by itself. Also, try and keep your fragrances in a cool, dry environment. If you travel, only bring a small portion of the liquid with you as changes in altitude, pressure and temperature can all have adverse effects on a bottle of perfume or cologne.
What are fragrance notes?
Fragrance notes refer to the ingredients that make up a particular scent. Notes can be classified into three main types: top notes, middle notes (or heart notes) and base notes. Top notes refer to the initial scents of a fragrance and are the lightest of all ingredients. These notes last roughly 10-15 minutes after application. The middle or 'heart' notes are slightly more robust and usually last anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour. The base notes are the foundation of any fragrance and usually last a few hours. Base notes are usually made up of musks, woods and different earth-toned ingredients.
Remember, to accurately enjoy the palette of any good fragrance, allow the alcohol to finish it's 'dry-off' period - about ten to fifteen seconds on the skin should do. This will allow you to smell the actual fragrance without the alcohol getting in the way. Also, lightly spray the fragrance on pressure points including the wrists, neck, the inner crease of your elbows and even behind the ears. Try not to spray your perfume or cologne on clothing as this will sometimes destroy the make-up of a well-designed fragrance. In addition, a light spritz in your hair can leave a lasting scent for the entire day.

You'll then be entered into a queue of waiting customers - whenever the stock level gets replenished, the equivalent number of customers waiting will receive a notification to buy the product...it's that simple.
