Salvatore Ferragamo was born in Italy in 1898. Salvatore discovered the art of making shoes at a young age. He made his sister shoes to wear on their confirmations. Ferragamo opened a small store based out of his parent's home. In 1914, he immigrated to Boston and joined one of his brothers working at a cowboy boot factory.
Ferragamo convinced his brother to move with him to California where they opened a small shoe store. This small business grew into a successful shoe store to the stars. Ferragamo wasn't happy with just designing fashionable shoes he wanted his shoes to also be comfortable. He decided to study anatomy at the University of Southern California and see if there was a better way to design shoes more comfortable. Ferragamo became widely known for designing stylish and comfortable shoes. One of his most famous inventions is the ?Cage Heel?.
Salvatore Ferragamo passed away in 1960. His daughter, Fiamma, took over designing and producing her father's legendary shoes. The business also expanded to include handbags and fragrances. Salvatore Ferragamo perfume for women was launched in 1998. This fragrance contains a blend of anise, neroli and cassis. Salvatore Ferragamo cologne for men was also launched this same year. Following this Ferragamo introduced Subtil perfume in 2002.
