Count Hubert James Marcel Taffin de Givenchy was born on February 21, 1927 in France. Givenchy came from a long line of artistic fashion designers and decided at the young age of 10, he wanted to work ?somewhere in fashion design?. In 1952, Givenchy opened his first shop at the Plaine Monceau in Paris. He was now the youngest designer in France at the age of 25. In 1953, Givenchy became even more successful when he started designing Audrey Hepburn's wardrobes for many of her films and gowns for her personal wardrobe.
Following this success, Givenchy launched its first perfumes. L'Interdit was one of them and became very popular since it was designed after Audrey Hepburn. Ysatis and Amarige followed in 1984 and 1991. The perfume Amarige was launched with a very feminine woman in mind and contains notes of white flower. Following this Givenchy introduced Organza; which is named after the material Givenchy was so known for using. Most recently Givenchy launched the perfume Extravagance in 1998. Extravagance was launched on the face of the model Eva Herzigova and has become another successful perfume for Givenchy.
