Elizabeth Taylor was born February 27, 1933 in England. Both of her parents were American and therefore Elizabeth was both a British subject and an American citizen. Elizabeth's mother was an actress and according to accounts was said to control Elizabeth's father. As a young girl, Elizabeth took ballet lessons and at the age of nine appeared in her first motion picture. Taylor was originally signed with Universal but her contract was soon dropped. She then made the move to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The first movie she made with them was Lassie Come Home in 1943. This began Taylor's career in acting and in 1963 she became the highest paid movie star of that time.
Elizabeth Taylor married for the first time at the age of 18 to Conrad Hilton. As the years passed Taylor has been divorced, remarried and widowed several times. She has starred in several films and played various roles on TV. Taylor also launched a line of jewelry and fragrances. Taylor's first perfume was Passion launched in 1987. This perfume for women contains a blend of gardenia and rose. Passion for men was launched shortly after in 1989. Taylor went on to introduce several other fragrances including White Diamonds, Diamond & Sapphire, Diamond & Rubies, Diamond & Emeralds and Black Pearls.
Taylor also devotes lots of her time to AIDS charities. She is credited with founding two different AIDS foundations, one for research and one for fundraising. Elizabeth Taylor is an amazing woman whose star as an actress has lead to her success as a designer and fundraiser.
