Katy Perry reveals name for her new perfume
News broke earlier this month that pop princess Katy Perry was rolling out a new perfume for women meant to be a counterpart to her first fragrance, Purr. Now, Perry has revealed the name of her latest fragrance and appropriately, it's another cat-themed title, Meow.
Perry gave fans the opportunity to guess the new scent's name with a contest on Twitter. The winners would receive free bottles of the perfume and the chance to meet the starlet at a launch party in the near future.
Fans had a number of creative and kind of strange guesses, including Catnip, Furry Tail and Catberry. However, Perry spilled the beans in a tweet to fans.
"MOST of u guessed right! My next fragrance and bestie to Purr is MEOW!" she tweeted rather enthusiastically. "She's very sweet and inspired by that magical place, CANDYFORNIA! #MEOW."
Entertainment Weekly says the whole cat-centric theme falls in line with Perry's ongoing California Dreams tour, which tells the story of Perry looking for her lost cat, Kitty Purry. And if that's not enough cat references for you, Perry also likes to call her fans "Katycats."
I think she likes cats.
Anyway, no word yet on what exactly Meow will smell like, but if Purr is any indication, it may have fruit and floral notes along with hints of sandalwood and amber.
We're also not yet sure if Katy plans to roll out another provocative ad campaign for Meow. You may remember that early ads for Purr had Katy dressed head-to-toe in a skin-tight purple cat outfit, complete with super long tail.
Crazy cat lady vibe aside, I look forward to trying out Meow at some point, and if it's anything like her previous fragrance it will have me, um, "purring" with delight. Sorry for that one.
