Hot pink hair is in
I talked about Katy Perry's new perfume for women in a post last week, but I can't help but focus on one of this pop icon's other contributions to the fashion world – her hairstyles. It seems Ms. Perry appears with a different colored coif every few months – although each is as finely manicured as the last.
As a couple of bloggers pointed out, Perry caught some people's eyes this summer sporting a pink 'do. In this case, she wasn't exactly a leader. She was simply following the trends – plenty of celebrities have been spotted with pink hairstyles recently, including Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Charlotte Free.
According to Slate.com, it's not an entirely unique trend. As it turns out, ladies have been dyeing their hair pink since as fa} back as 1914, when they started using henna dye to redden up their roots. Even a few fellas got into the trend in early 1960s England, said the website.
Me? I'm all for a little individuality, and I've dyed my hair just about every color in the rainbow. If you're the skittish type or too afraid to commit, I'd suggest seeing how you look with a wig or some temporary dye first.
If you're willing to go all in, a few discount hair care products can help you on your way. You'll want to start by bleaching your hair, and then applying a portion of the hair dye – the more you add, the more of your hair you'll cover.
You can ask a friend to help get those hard-to-reach areas, but once the dye is in, you'll be sitting around for a long while to let it take effect. After an hour or two, rinse it off, and you'll have a wonderful pink 'do you can style to your desire.
