Golden Globes prove even celebrities’ goodie bags are fancy

Remember when you were a kid going to a friend's birthday party? And his or her mom laid out a ton of little themed goodie bags with bite size bags of candy and maybe a few tiny toys?
Well, celebrities get goodie bags for their get-togethers as well. But they don't get chalky candy and tinker toys.
Take, for instance, next year's Golden Globes. The event will be held January 15, but organizers are already preparing by lining up items for attendees' gift bags. As the Wall Street Journal reports, this isn't exactly like going down to Target and seeing what's in the dollar aisle.
"This is actually a competitive process that companies must apply for by sending in full sized samples, then waiting to hear if their gift will be accepted – or not," the article reads.
Organizers will contact every high-end clothing retailer, fashion house and perfume store they can think of who may want to give wealthy celebrities the opportunity to sample their wares. Then, they'll fill up hundreds of gift bags with the expensive goodies – 800 for women, 600 for men.
Oh and by the way, these aren't just the cheap paper Snow White bags your mom used for your birthday party when you turned seven. No, the bags themselves are designer products.
The Journal reports In Style, which is helping to secure potential items, is looking for fragrances, scarves, travel items and leather goods – but not gift certificates. Too drab, I guess.
Anyway, it all got me wondering, if I was a celeb and I was to receive a goodie bag at a fancy awards ceremony, what would I want? Let me just say – if that bag didn't include a free bottle of Euphoria perfume, well, somebody would get a stern talking-to from my personal assistant.
